FAQ

Should I register my blog?

If you have a blog about the Ruby programming language, Ruby On Rails, or any of the related projects of technologies, go on, and register it. Your blog will help build a valuable resource for this growing community.

How is RubyCorner updated?

RubyCorner must be notified when your blog is changed. It doesn't automatically check to see if your blog has changed.

If you want your blog to be shown at the top of the updated lists, you must configure your CMS to make an automatic "ping" whenever you update it.

If your CMS support automatic "ping" via XML-RPC (the majority support it), just copy & paste your unique blog ping link into the required section CMS.

In case your blogging tool (like Blogger) doesn't support XML-RPC ping, just bookmark your unique blog ping link and visit it whenever your blog changed. That is what we call a REST ping.

Whenever RubyCorner receives a ping from your blog (or from you) it will read your blog feed. If your blog has changed, it is added "at the top" off the Last Updated list.

What feed should I use when registering my blog?

You can use either RSS or Atom feed when you register your blog.

Please try to not register your blog with feeds generated by third party services (like FeedBurner), because this kind of feeds isn't instantaneously updated when your blog is changed (there is some latency).

If your feed its not updated when RubyCorner fetches it, it won't reflect the change in your blog listing.

Instead use the feeds provided by your blogging tool or content management system. We won't show your feed, in any section of RubyCorner, instead we point people to you blog where they can grab your feed if they want to follow your blog closely.

Why my blog doesn't appear in Last Updated list?

This happens when RubyCorner detects that your blog hasn't changed since its last ping.

Whenever RubyCorner receives a ping from your blog (or manually from you) it reads your blog feed. If your blog has changed, it is added "at the top" off the Last Updated list.

Why my blog appears in Last Updated list without the last post information?

This happens when RubyCorner finds trouble reading your blog feed. Sometimes this is just a transient problem, but be sure that the feed url you used when you register your blog is working properly.

My question is not listed here, what can I do?
